Did you know that vegetable oils like canola, grape seed, and corn oil that many of us have been using for years for frying are now shown in clinical trials to be harmful? Heat releases toxic omega-6 fat residues. See BMJ, 2016;353:i1246.

Safer cooking oils are butter, ghee, coconut oil, olive oil, walnut oil and avocado oil. These do not cause cardiovascular inflammation.

At HeartCare we are now testing for both omega-3 (healthy) and omega-6 (dangerous) in patient’s blood. Omega-3 fatty acids are found in fish, fish oil, walnuts, and flax seed.

High levels of omega-3 fatty acids and low levels of omega-6 are associated with a low incidence of heart attacks in Japan, the lowest in the world.
